dc.description.abstract “The hotel sector is a labour-intensive, high-quality service industry. The industry’s competitiveness and productivity are largely determined by the skill levels and professionalism of its workforce” (Subhash, 2012, p. 37). Hospitality industry is dependent on professional staff to exceed guest expectations. The provision of this manpower is provided by hospitality institutes. As the industry has grown so has the need of qualified employees. In a changing global environment, the hospitality industry is being faced with a daunting task of keeping up with customer demands while providing excellent customer service. The curriculum and industrial internship play an important role in academic curriculum as it is an opportunity for students to incorporate work related experience and knowledge into their formal education. This paper explores the measurement of skill sets which includes grooming skills, soft skills, relational skills, analytical skills, organisational skills, managerial skills and professional skills developed in students throughout their hospitality program. en_US
